Oh man, a lot has happened and changed since my last post!

My last post was about Miss T’s First Holy Communion, and 2 years later, it’s Mr. D’s First Holy Communion! But much has happened in between the two events. Most noticeable is that the Cheah Pets changed schools and Parishes. It was a tough decision to make, but it’s been a very good change!
Miss T is now finishing Grade 4, Mr. D is finishing up Grade 2 and Mr. Th is in his final months of pre-school. How did that happen?! I swear they were all just helpless infants in my arms. *sigh* And Mrs. Cheah (aka mommy, mom, bruh) is finishing up her year in Grade 3. Whaaaaaat?! Yep, I went back to work part time this September as a Grade 3 teacher at the same school that the littles attend. Crazy, right? I hadn’t thought I was going to go back this year, wasn’t even sure if I was going to go back at all, but the Holy Spirit was moving in my life, and before I knew it, I had accepted a 0.4FTE position! I’ve actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. But, two days a week is hard as a classroom teacher, especially because my days are Thursdays and Fridays and there are lots of events and Pro-D’s that happen on Fridays. It’s nearing the end of May and I’m finally feeling like I’ve got my sea legs back.

Our school just finished a production of Seussical Jr. – a very fun and Seussian musical written for younger actors. Before pausing my teaching career to start the Cheah Pets family, I was involved in directing and choreographing several Jr. musicals in previous schools. It was a lot of fun to dip my toes back into the elementary school musical theatre world again, and I’m excited to see what comes next. Oh, and the Seussical has inspired some Dr. Seuss episodes for the Cheah Pets Audio Stories Podcast – watch for new episodes coming soon!
Our move of schools and parish allowed us to enrol the littles into more activities and to participate more actively in our new parish. Miss T is currently doing Ballet and Hip Hop. Mr. D did fall soccer and started violin (but that was put on hold) and both T and D were taking piano lessons before having to pause because their teacher had a baby! Mr. Th also did fall “soccer” although at his age there was very little actual soccer playing. I got to add some activities as well. I became a Catechesis of the Good Shepherd level 1 catechist (I’ll be finishing up my level 2 formation in the summer) and have a level 1 group at the St. Pat’s St. Therese Atrium. I have also started learning to play the violin! It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and when Mr. D decided that the violin as a bit too much for him, I took on his lessons. I was even gifted a full size violin by a friend. It’s not an easy instrument to learn, and my poor family has to listen to the noise that I’m sure will one day be beautiful music. It’s never too late to learn a new instrument!
I must get back to the craziness of the Cheah Pets family and life, but I hope to write again soon!
God bless you all.
